Meer cases in Kansas can be associated with the outbreak of Texas

Measurement cases in Kansas have more than doubled in the past week and increased the balance sheet to 20, while another outbreak in Ohio has 10 people, the local officials reported on Wednesday.

There were several major outbreaks in the United States this year, including one in West texas that spread to more than 320 people and took 40 to the hospital. Health officers have feared that the outbreak in Texas may have others.

More than 40 measles cases were reported in New Mexico and seven were identified in Oklahoma. In both states, health officers said that the infections were connected to the outbreak in Texas.

In Kansas, the virus has mainly infected children in the southwestern corner of the state. The genetic sequencing has proposed a link to the outbreaks in Texas and New Mexico, said state health officers on Wednesday of the New York Times.

Fourteen other countries have reported 2025 isolated measles cases, more often by international trip. In Ohio, nine of the ten cases were attributed to a man who had recently been died abroad.

“In view of the measles activities in Texas, New Mexico and other states across the country, we are disappointed, but not surprised that we now have several cases here in Ohio,” said Dr. Bruce Vanderhoff, director of the state's Ministry of Health.

Experts fear that the nationwide vaccinating vaccination rates have made the country susceptible to a rescue of avoidable diseases, including measles.

Almost 93 percent of children in kindergarten had the vaccine against measles, mumps and rubella in the school year 2023-24, according to the centers for the control and prevention of diseases.

Experts recommend that at least 95 percent of people are vaccinated in a community to avoid outbreaks.

According to state data, around 90 percent of kindergarten teachers received the MMR shot in the school year 2023-24 in Kansas.

About 89 percent of the kindergarten teachers in Ohio had the MMR shot this year.

Measles that spread when an infected person breathes, coughs or niedet is one of the most contagious known viruses.

Within a few weeks after exposure, those who are infected can develop a high fever, a cough, a liquid nose and red, aqueous eyes. Within a few days, a treacherous rash breaks out, first spread out as a flat, red spots on the face and then the neck and upper body to the rest of the body

In most cases, these symptoms dissolve in a few weeks. In rare cases, however, the virus causes pneumonia, which makes it difficult for patients, especially children, to pull oxygen into their lungs.

The infection can also lead to swelling of the brain, which can lead to permanent damage, including blindness, deafness and intellectual disabilities. For all 1,000 children who complete measles, one or two dies according to the CDC

A child has died in the Texas outbreak, the first such death in the United States for a decade. A suspected measles death was also reported in New Mexico.
