The biggest changes Daisy Jones and the Six made to the book

As in Taylor Jenkins Reid‘s 2019, novel, Daisy Jones (Riley Keough) and Billy Dunne (Sam Claflin) first meet in a recording studio when she is asked to do a duet with him on the TV series Daisy Jones & the Six. Circumstances are a little different when it comes to the Amazon Prime Video adaptation. Firstly, The Six have already recorded their second album in the book as they have never been dropped from their label like they were on the show.

But the biggest change is also a subtle one: Daisy doesn’t rewrite the love song’s lyrics, only changes the way she sings them, and, according to Billy, asks “questions as opposed to statements” on the site. Their initial – and climactic – introduction is just as tense and suspenseful on either version, and is a defining moment for the band, not to mention a sober Billy.

“Billy has been writing songs and trying to convince himself that he’s in control,” says keyboardist Karen in the book. “And after about two minutes of singing, Daisy pulled the tablecloth out from under his dishes.”

After their recording session, a worried Billy calls his wife Camila (Camila Morrone) to tell her it was a “terrible” experience, although everyone in the studio admitted they saw something special. In the book, the singer also complains to Camila, who tells him, “It’s not real life, Billy. it’s a song

“I couldn’t get over it, though,” explains Billy. “I didn’t like that Daisy turned those lines into questions, and I didn’t like that she had the right to do so.”
