Reuters reveals Indonesia preparing tough new curbs for online platforms

Reuters said Indonesia is preparing tough new rules that will allow it to fine and prosecute internet and social media platforms, potentially fueling the rapid growth of online businesses in a $70 billion market slowed down. The rules, which authorities believe are needed to get platforms to quickly take down “unlawful” content, are among the strictest in the world on social media and follow a rising crackdown on online content that activists in alarmed countries like India.
