oracle The engineers incorrectly triggered a five -day software failure in a series of hospitals from Community Health Systems, which temporarily return to paper -based patient files.

CNBC announced that the company's failure with Oracle Health, Ehr -System (Electronic Health Record), was affected by “several” hospitals to activate “down -to -date process”. Becker's hospital check reported that 45 hospitals were made.

The failure began on April 23, after the engineers had incorrectly deleted critical memory that had been connected to an important database, a CHS spokesman said in a statement. The failure was enclosed on Monday and was not connected to a cyber attack or another safety incident.

CHS is based in Tennessee and, according to the website of the medical system, includes 72 hospitals in 14 states.

“Although this was a great failure, our hospitals were able to maintain services without any material effects,” said the spokesman. “We are proud of our clinical and supportive teams that have undergone the multi -day failure with professionalism and the obligation to provide high -quality, secure care for patients.”

An honor is a digital version of the medical history of a patient updated by doctors and nurses. It is crucial software within the US health system, and failures can lead to serious disorders of patient care. Oracle acquired the Ehr-Seller Cerner in 2022 for $ 28.3 billion and became the second largest player on the market behind EPIC Systems.

After Oracle's systems are online again, CHS said that the hospitals concerned work to “restore full functionality and to return to normal processes and procedures”.

Oracle's CHS error takes weeks after the company's electronic health records have experienced a nationwide failure. Oracle has to struggle with a thorny, years of Ehr rollout with the Department of Veterans Affairs, which was affected by the security concerns of the patients. In 2021, the agency hired a strategic review of Cerner in 2021 and temporarily stated the provision of the software in 2023.
