Faux -Locs have the way I am using my curls

Faux -Locs have the way I am using my curls

When I grew up, my relationship with my hair was anything but easy. I grew up in a Dominican household, in which curly hair was not considered beautiful. It was considered something to repair, smooth and smooth. As a result, my family made sure that I visited the Dominican salon for regular relaxers and blowouts. It was only in 2016 that I really started to hug my natural texture. One of the greatest misunderstandings about naturally natural coexistence is that the care of curly hair becomes easier as soon as you stop smoothing or using it relaxer. Trust me, it doesn't.

I have 3c hair, which means that my curls are densely wrapped and can sometimes be a little agricultural. There are days when my curls are absolutely perfect and I feel like the confident woman in the room. But let me be real, these times don't last long. In a good week I might get three days when my curls are in their flowering. In the rest of the time, everything revolves around moisture, styling and sure that my hair remains protected. In other words, the care of curls can be a full -time job. It is not something that you can do half -heartedly. It is not for the weak, which is why Faux-Locs have become an important player for me.

Faux Locs entered my life to save time and protect my natural curls. I needed a break from the constant maintenance of my curls, but I still wanted a look that was stylish and easy to manage. Faux Locs gave me that. I can choose the length, the style and color to adapt my mood for the day. They are also much easier to maintain than chemically smooth hair. I don't have to worry about moisture or rainy days that interfere with my hair. I can wake up and know that my hair will remain intact for at least three weeks. I can say goodbye to Frizz and careful styling every day.

And when someone with a full schedule, Faux -Locs have become a lifesaver for me. Regardless of whether I go to an audition, a comedy show or a big event, I can rely on my locations look great, no matter what happens. They give me confidence in a way that my curls sometimes don't do, simply because I know that they stay to the point. In addition, Faux -Locs are super versatile. I can try out different looks without signing anything permanent.

Now the costs for Faux -Locs can be a bit steep – I will not lie. In California you can cost you around 600 US dollars, while you get a good set for around 300 US dollars in New York. But here is: I learned how to do it yourself, which saves a lot of money. I need about six hours to do it right – four hours when I feel lazy and don't take care of what my back looks like. But when I'm done, I have the feeling that I have achieved something big. I have to worry less for a few weeks.

Sometimes I think about making Faux -Locs a permanent part of my style. They are just so simple and low -maintenance. But then I think of my curls and I can't imagine giving them up. I spent so many years to hug her, and now I'm finally in a place where I love her. It is clear to me that my curls are actually an integral part of my identity and I don't have to change anything. For now I enjoy the best of both worlds: Curly Hair for these days I would like to feel unstoppable, and Faux -Locs when I need a break.

Ultimately, I learned that hair is an expression of who they are. Whether curly, straight, loc'ed or something in between, it is a choice, and for me this choice is about enabled and safe in every style I choose. And we are real, as a Dominican woman in the entertainment industry, to have freedom to express myself through my hair, is a power that I will never take for granted.
