Delta says that the segmentation comes to high-end cabins

“Premium was certainly where our margins continued to expand, and we therefore very much focus on offering this customer for improved service and more segmentation,” said Delta President Glen Hauenstein on Thursday about a winning call with analysts. “The segmentation that we have carried out in the main cabin is a kind of template that we will bring to all of our premium cabins over time because different people have different needs.”

Hauenstein refused to detail possible changes to the premium seats. But Hauenstein said Delta tested some options for customers and surveyors.

“We have not yet introduced it, not because we do not have the technological ability, but we want to make sure that customers understand what we will bring on the market and that they are worth it,” he said.

Henry Hartevelt, travel consultant and president of the Atmosphere Research Group, said that he was not convinced that Delta would consider a stripped-down premium tariff.

“Airplanes are expensive … and it is much easier if you give your passengers a reason to pay them more for your product than you pay less,” he said.
