Delta air lines Examine new types of aircraft cards – this time in the Premium cabins in front of the plane.
For years, the airlines have cut their coaching huts into the disc, from additional legroom seats to back bones Basic Economy tariffs, which do not allow any changes or contain a seat assignments. Delta was a pioneer in the United States when it started with the rivals of basic economic trains more than a decade ago United airlinesPresent American airlines And others follow.
Now the managers of airlines are concentrating on their premium cabins, in which demand keeps better this year than on the back of the aircraft.
“Premium was certainly where our margins continued to expand, and we therefore very much focus on offering this customer for improved service and more segmentation,” said Delta President Glen Hauenstein on Thursday about a winning call with analysts. “The segmentation that we have carried out in the main cabin is a kind of template that we will bring to all of our premium cabins over time because different people have different needs.”
The turnover of Delta from Premium seats such as Business Class rose by 6% to 10.6 billion US dollars in the first half of the year, while the revenue from the cabin economy's ticket decreased by 4% to 11.7 billion US dollars. The airline, the most profitable US airline, has been saying for years that its share of sales of high-end seats and its lucrative loyalty program has increased.

U.S. airlines have largely stored the international first class in favor of larger cabins in the business class class, in which Lie-Flat seats have more amenities than places in the past decades.
Hauenstein refused to detail possible changes to the premium seats. It is not clear whether Delta would consider a cheaper first or business class ticket that may not contain any discounts such as lounge access or seat tasks or a potentially larger seat that can be delivered with add-ons that do not have standard tickets.
But Hauenstein said Delta tested some options for customers and surveyors.
“We have not yet introduced it, not because we do not have the technological ability, but we want to make sure that customers understand what we will bring on the market and that they are worth it,” he said.
Henry Hartevelt, travel consultant and president of the Atmosphere Research Group, said that he was not convinced that Delta would consider a stripped-down premium tariff.
“Airplanes are expensive … and it is much easier if you give your passengers a reason to pay them more for your product than you pay less,” he said.

Other airlines are working on equipping their first -class cabins to offer a few places with additional space and even space for a visitor, such as the planned UNITED update to its long -distance cabin and the new seats of American's New Seats on some of his Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
The partner of Delta, Virgin Atlantic, offers the “Retreat Suite” on the front of its Airbus A330 upper shift cabin, which “can be rebuilt” so that up to four people can enjoy an intimate dinner together in their own private social space.
When asked whether Delta will update some of his seats with the highest end, CEO Ed Bastian told CNBC on Wednesday that “the premium products had life cycles … and what we thought that art was no longer six or seven years ago.
“We will continue to upgrade and update it. So that's part of the business costs,” he said. “But our product will be very, very nice.”
