Apple On Thursday, some Apple Watch users announced a newly designed blood oxygen function for Apple Watch after a year -long dispute over intellectual ownership of the ability.
Apple said that the redesigned function on Thursday for the Apple Watch Series 9, Series 10 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 users will be delivered. The update was possible due to a recently in the USA customs officials, said the company.
In 2023, the International Commercial Commission found that Apple's blood oxide sensors violate Masimo's intellectual property, a medical technology company. Apple started selling some of his watches and began to sell modified versions of the wearables without the characteristics of the blood oxygen.
“Apple's teams work tirelessly to create products and services that deal with industry management health, wellness and security functions that are based on science and essentially have privacy,” said the company in a publication in which the function rollout was announced.
CNBC turned to Masimo to get a comment.
Users who do not currently have the function can access it by updating their iPhone on iOS 18.6.1 and their Apple Watch on Watchos 11.6.1, said Apple. Users can see their results in the breath of the health app.
Apple has pushed deeper into health care in recent years.
The company recently published a Sleep apnea recognition function for Apple Watch users and hearing health functions for its AirPods headphones. Apple started his first big health study in February for five years.
